Oh hello!

I nearly didn’t see you down there from my perch atop my pile of unpublished manuscripts.

I’m Gisela. I live in Central Victoria, Australia on Dja Dja Wurrung Country with my family. I grew up on a farm in Western Victoria, lived for a long time in Melbourne, and spent a decade or so living in South East Asia when I was an aid worker.

When I’m not writing, I teach children how to read. I specialise in teaching kids with dyslexia.

Because I get to see so many kids, I also get to see what they are reading. If you, like me, really want to know what (some) kids are reading in the wild, then keep an eye on my Twitter. When I can wrench the books out of the hands of the 8-11 year olds, I post about them there. #WhatTheKidsAreReading

In the meantime, I’ll keep tapping away at the stories.

Technical Reading and Learning Materials

I offer technical reading services to authors and publishers. If you have characters with learning difficulties including dyslexia and ADHD, or have texts with significant references to literacy and learning, and the family and school aspects of this, I can help you make sure you have the technical aspects of your stories correct.

I can also produce and check learning materials and teacher's notes, including aligning them with the National Curriculum.
